Thank you for this! I used to write Japan travel guides and while I've known in passing of these concepts, I never looked deeper. There's a lot of contrast (but also similarity) to more familiar Christianity. I like the notion of worshipping the local way of life. I'll have to read this again though, as I'm sure there was a lot I missed.
