I'm sorry you went through this. I read a fair bit of the NPD literature last year, trying to understand a past relationship. While in the end, I realized I'd mistakenly (and somewhat rashly) categorized them as such (they weren't), I couldn't help thinking how hellish life with someone like that must be.

Sounds like a generalized prolonged WTF moment. I'm glad you found your way out of it, and hope writing about it helps bring some catharsis :)
