I think I do. I'm no fan of following an author, as it's how cults (bigger or smaller) get made, and it ends up compromising quality, not to mention skewing away attention from other creators. I'm sad to see that on Medium. I thought this place could be different, but now I'm not so sure.

That being said, I like the algo here more or less as it keeps feeding me a steady stream of new (to me) writers. I think you can follow the story, but it might not be too lucrative, if it means dismissing those nifty social conventions. The quid pro quo of I read you, you read me. Which I don't personally believe in, but many here seem to.
