I agree about the knife. I don't think you need to destroy the knife, but you don't need to bring it back into the home with you either. I'd like to think people act from love, too. However, I see a limit there. Much as I try to keep a space to understand someone's intentions and motives, I can't let that overtake me or my own healing. And that's a slippery slope, I feel, because if you start thinking they acted from some kind of love, then maybe they're nice or well-meaning or weren't lying, and you get roped in again.

Obviously, there's a lot of room for discussion as there are a lot of different relationships out there. I don't think you can use a one size fits all approach. But i don't think this not forgiving is a one size fits all option :)
