Agreed. You make a good point that we're playing by different point systems, very true. What compelled me to write this is that many women don't seem to want to be held accountable by any standards, while the men they date, should they refuse to play the game, are automatically a-holes.

I don't think anyone should be going their own way. I think we function better when we play together, as a society. But you're correct, we'd all be much better off if we grew realistic expectations around the dating market. Men seem to be slightly more prepared for that, as they more often deal with rejection, and perhaps understand it's more take what you can get.

I wonder if we'll ever find a middle way, though.
